How to install

If you're not currently a Metaplane customer, you can get a free trial of the Metaplane app over at the Snowflake Marketplace.

If you are already a Metaplane customer, just reach out to Metaplane support and request access to the native app.

The application will guide you through the process of connecting to Metaplane, configuring data access, and navigating to where the resulting data will live in Metaplane's UI.

How it works

Metaplane's application runs inside your Snowflake account. It analyzes, parses, and processes the data that you wish to monitor, all within Snowflake (using Snowpark Container Services) and then sends the aggregated metadata and observations back to the Metaplane backend, so that it can be displayed and analyzed alongside metadata from your entire data stack.

You'll still be able to use the UI at https://app.metaplane.dev to monitor your Snowflake warehouse (and your BI tools, ETL pipeline, and more!), but all the data access and heavy lifting is done strictly within Snowflake itself.
